Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do to prevent gum disease and tooth decay?

It all starts at home! The short answer? Brush and floss daily. Good, consistent dental habits are the key to great oral health for life. You should also visit your dentist every six months for a cleaning and checkup!

Why are my teeth so sensitive?

Typically, teeth become sensitive when gum recession occurs. When the gum recedes, it’s easier for food and water to reach the sensitive roots of our teeth. We can recommend toothpaste, gels, and procedures to help alleviate sensitivity!

How can I improve the appearance of my smile?

Depending on what your smile needs, there are endless ways to brighten, straighten, and fix your smile! Check out the services we offer to learn more, then schedule a consultation to find the treatment that’s best for you.

What is Periodontal Disease?

Periodontal disease is often hard to detect, and caused by bacteria entering the gums. In its early stages, it’s called “gingivitis,” and patients will experience inflammation and bleeding of the gums. If left untreated, it can worsen and cause further symptoms, including bad breath, gum recession, gum and tooth sensitivity, abscesses, or tooth loss.

What’s the difference between a white filling and a silver filling?

Silver fillings are made of metal and are the traditional material for restorative fillings. The metal grows and shrinks when in contact with heat and cold. This keeps bacteria out of your fillings and leaves teeth healthy and strong.

White fillings are made of plastic or glass polymers and allow us to fill cavities and match your tooth color without the obvious appearance of metal.

How do you treat periodontal disease?
Periodontal diseases are chronic and require fast action. Our services, including root planing & scaling, periodontal cleanings, laser therapy, and antibiotics, can help control this condition. Surgery may be necessary in serious cases.
